Common questions
It looks like a coral snake. Is it dangerous?
Not at all, it is a harmless mimic. It copies the warning colours for protection, but it has no venom.
How small is it?
Very small and slender, usually well under a metre. That size is exactly what makes it a bit of a challenge.
What can it eat if it is that small?
Very small prey, often pink mouse parts for hatchlings. This is why we do not recommend it as a first snake.
Will I see it much?
Honestly, no. It is secretive and spends most of its time under cover, so buy it because you like the animal, not for display.
