A large carpet python, often around two and a half metres, with a heavier build than a jungle carpet.

Adults are usually very good to handle. Babies are food-driven and jumpy, so expect a year or so of patient work.

Drier than most carpets, since it comes from central Australia. Good ventilation, a water bowl, and a warm zone on a thermostat.

Does it need branches?

Yes, they climb well. A tall enclosure with strong branches and a raised hide suits them much better than a bare box.
