How big does it get?

Big: commonly 40 to 50 cm and 15 to 20 kg, some larger. Plan the pen for the adult, not the hatchling.

What does it eat?

Grass, more grass, plus weeds and leafy greens. It is a grazer, so no fruit and no animal protein.

Will it dig or climb out?

It does not tunnel as much as a sulcata but it will push through a weak fence. Build the wall solid and sink the edge into the ground.

How long does it live?

Fifty to eighty years, so it will most likely outlive you. Decide now who takes over.
